The state is washed by the Arctic and Pacific Oceans. On the Pacific Coast Alaska Range is found; the central part is the plateau which is 1200 m high in the east and only up to 600 m in the west, turning into the lowlands. Brooks Range is located in the north followed by the Arctic lowlands.
