| Having bought a couple of guidebooks and a good topographic atlas, we mapped out a route. We decided to visit Denali National Park for our fist destination, and the highest peak in North America – Volcanic McKinley. Then our route would go through the Arctic Alaska - across the river Yukon in the center of Brooks Range. Upon reaching the ridge Brooks, that is 750 kilometers away from Anchorage, we planned to turn back and go to the Wrangell Mountains area, and then descend to the coast-line city Valdez and look at the Chugach Mountains. During the three weeks of vacation we had to drive about 2200 km. Our car will have quite a story to tell in the garage!
And there the tent-machine life took off! The car looked like a small house on wheels. The luggage rack and the back seat were piled up to the top with expedition equipment, food, and clothing. Sleeping in a tent was the most common way of lodging in Alaska. Hotels
Promo Code was built only in cities and in places of mass tourist pilgrimage. But even in such major centers as Fairbanks or Valdez, there are specially designated areas for tent accommodation. Unlike other states, in Alaska, you can pitch a tent almost anywhere and often for no charge.
When we stopped for the night, you observe all necessary precautions to avoid attracting bears to the parking lot. In Alaska there are a lot of bears, and a meeting with them can bring a lot of trouble. On clear nights around our tents one could see the white outlines of the volcanic mountains against the sky, which was sparkling with the remarkable northern lights.
