Volcanic McKinley |
|
After
leaving Anchorage, in two days’ time we got to Denali National Park.
Nearly a million travelers from all over the world visit it each
season to look at the volcanic McKinley (6194
m). The weather is often not so good, and 4 out of 7 days per week
the peak is hidden
in the clouds. We chose the point of shooting on the steep foothills
to photograph the top lit by the rising sun, and drove there by car
to an altitude of 1300 m. In the evening there was a good sunset
and at night it suddenly started down pouring, and the rain lasted
18 (!) hours. We were cooking blueberry jam in a tent on the Primus
and scooping water out of the tent. Everything around was covered
with fog. Once the rain stopped and the fog cleared up, the Beauty
Volcanic McKinley turned up. We always felt volcano's breathing
nearby our tent. |
